Meet the Staff: Sock Queen
First, I want to ask for a round of applause for Anne. She is the brave staff member willing to be the focus of the very first Meet the Staff blog post. Thanks Anne!See that smile? Anne is always smiling when I see her in the store, which is too infrequently because we rarely share shifts. But I always look forward to the days when someone swaps a shift and I get to spend time with this fun gal. She definitely fits Lyn's description for some of us--"the rowdies". Let's see what this rowdy had to say...
How long have you been knitting?
I have been able to knit since I was 7 years old, and I knit in spurts 5 years on, 10 years off until more recently. Now I look back to when i wasn't knitting and think "Oh, my goodness! What a waste of time!"
What other needle arts do you enjoy?
Knitting. All knitting.
What are your favorite techniques or styles?
Very traditional--cables, texture, fair isle. Pullovers and socks are my typical projects.
What are your favorite fibers?
[without any hesitation] Wool!!!
What do you consider your signature projects?
A beige cabled pullover... or socks. I really want to try a pair of Norwegian mittens, and right now I am knitting another cabled pullover. But this one is brown!
How long have you been with Knit+ Stitch =Bliss?
One year this fall.
What classes do you teach?
Sock Knitting
When can we typically find you in the store?
Monday, Tuesday, and Wednesday mornings. And the occasional weekend day.
Despite her obvious passion for knitting, Anne does have a few other "hobbies"-- a husband and two teenage boys she knits for as well as a fox terrier who has his own beige cabled pullover. If you think Anne looks familiar, it could be because she has graced the television airwaves bringing another of her passions to the people: tea. She also has an antiques shop in Leesburg, Virginia called The Posh Pear.
Come in and meet Anne. She would love to help you find the perfect project, and she is happy to untangle the mystery of cables or introduce you to the joy of socks!
